Hello there! At OpenWorks, we are actively seeking a Frontend WordPress Developer for one of our clients. This is a 100% remote, Contractor position open to Latin America.

This company based in the United States is a Marketing Services firm that helps businesses elevate their digital presence through performance-driven strategies and compelling content. With a strong focus on innovation and measurable impact, they craft digital experiences that resonate with target audiences and support long-term growth.

In this role, you will build and optimize WordPress websites, focusing on frontend excellence and maintaining seamless integration across the full development stack. You’ll work closely with designers and backend developers to create high-performance, responsive, and engaging digital experiences. Your expertise will drive custom theme development, plugin implementation, and ongoing technical optimization.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

  • Location: Following countries from Latin America: Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Venezuela, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, México (only Ciudad de México, Monterrey, Guadalajara)
  • Type of contract: Full-time Contractor (long-term)
  • Salary: $4,000 – $5,000 USD/month
  • Time Zone: Eastern Time Zone

What You’ll Do 

  • Build, maintain, and optimize WordPress websites with a frontend focus.
  • Own the full lifecycle of web projects, from development to deployment and maintenance.
  • Develop custom themes, templates, and Gutenberg blocks using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
  • Leverage Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) and other plugins to manage dynamic content.
  • Tackle backend WordPress tasks such as custom post types, taxonomies, and integrations.
  • Ensure responsive, accessible, and SEO-optimized websites across all devices and browsers.
  • Apply performance best practices including caching, lazy loading, and asset optimization.
  • Debug and resolve cross-browser compatibility issues.
  • Integrate REST APIs and manage data flows across the stack.
  • Collaborate with backend developers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver project requirements.
  • Stay current with WordPress developments and best practices.

Here’s Your Tech Playground 

  • Advanced English Level (C1/C2 Proficiency)
  • 5+ years of hands-on WordPress development (frontend & backend).
  • Strong skills in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, and WordPress theming.
  • Experience building custom Gutenberg blocks using ReactJS.
  • Expertise in ACF and custom WordPress architectures.
  • Familiarity with Git, local development tools (e.g., DDEV, Local), and deployment workflows.
  • Proficient in working with APIs (REST/GraphQL) and JSON.
  • Knowledge of performance optimization tools and techniques.
  • Comfortable with server environments (Apache/Nginx) and hosting platforms (e.g., cPanel).
  • Experience with Node.js, Docker, or headless WordPress configurations.
  • Strong debugging skills, ownership mindset, and detail-oriented execution.
