We are looking for an experienced developer to build a custom Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) integration that connects You.com’s API with Google Docs. The objective is to create a tool within Google Docs that can pull relevant information from a custom dataset stored on You.com’s API and generate responses or summaries based on user queries. This integration will allow users to access and retrieve information directly within Google Docs, enhancing productivity and enabling efficient knowledge retrieval from our customized dataset.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Location: Latin America.
- Type of contract: Temporary contract, in a “Contractor” modality. The expected timeline for project completion is 3-6 days, depending on experience. We are looking for someone who can dedicate time to complete this project efficiently, with thorough testing and documentation.
- Salary: Payment in USD. You just set up your pay-per-hour expectation, and that’s all!
What You’ll Do
- Set up You.com API access, including authentication, endpoint configuration, and testing.
- Upload and index a custom dataset on You.com’s API to enable contextually relevant document retrieval.
- Define and optimize search parameters to ensure high-quality data retrieval.
- Implement a RAG process that combines retrieval from the indexed dataset with generation capabilities.
- Configure retrieval and generation settings to align with the needs and context of our use case in Google Docs.
- Ensure seamless interaction between the retrieval and generative components for consistent and coherent output.
- Use Google Apps Script to create a custom Google Docs add-on with a user-friendly interface.
Develop a sidebar or menu that enables users to input queries and retrieve responses directly into the document. - Implement features for displaying, formatting, and inserting the generated responses into Google Docs.
- Conduct thorough testing to validate response quality, document formatting, and user experience.
- Adjust parameters for retrieval and generation accuracy and optimize response format to fit seamlessly within Google Docs.
- Handle potential error cases, such as unsuccessful API calls or irrelevant data retrieval, to ensure smooth functionality.
- Securely manage the You.com API key within the Google Apps Script environment.
- Provide detailed documentation of the integration process, including API configurations, user instructions, and maintenance guidelines.
Here’s Your Tech Playground
- Experience with API integrations, especially with language models and retrieval systems.
- Proficiency in Google Apps Script and familiarity with Google Workspace integrations.
- Strong understanding of RAG principles, especially with combining retrieval and generation in real-time applications.
- Excellent debugging and optimization skills to ensure high-quality output and user experience.
- Advanced English Level (C1 or C2 proficiencies).
